Truck Rims
Selecting the right size rims for your truck can be a tricky endeavor, especially if you are not accustomed to buying aftermarket parts like truck rims. Keep in mind that the size of rims that you select can enhance the appearance of your truck in general, or can do just the opposite and detract from the good lucks of the vehicle.
Before Shopping
Before shopping for the perfect truck rims, always measure the size of your factory-installed rims or retrieve this information from your owner’s manual. As a rule of thumb, you can safely go with truck rims that are a few inches larger than the factory installed rims that you now have in place, or you can, depending on the vehicle’s weight, reduce the size of the rims that are on the truck to make it weigh slightly less and use less fuel. Installing wider rims on your truck can improve the handling and performance that you will see when driving the vehicle, and those truck rims that have a wider horizontal diameter may help with increased acceleration and cornering duties.
Other Considerations
It is always a good idea to purchase the highest quality set of truck rims that you can afford, and keep in mind that cheaper priced rims may be inferior in craftsmanship. In the case of truck rims, you truly do get what you pay for, so spring for aluminum alloy rims for light trucks or heavier steel rims for bigger, full size trucks. But no matter which type of truck rims you decide to put on your truck, it is a smart move to obtain the proper fit by seeking the advice of a qualified mechanic or auto body repair specialist prior to purchase.
