Car Detailing
If you are like most folks, washing your car and car detailing can prove to be time-consuming and time is often something that is in short supply. Yet you want a nice, clean car. Luckily, there are quick car detailing options that allow you to quickly detail your car without water. These spray and wipe detailing techniques have been in use for decades and are becoming mainstream, no longer just the luxury of car detailers or dealerships. The products used in spray and wipe car detailing are specially formulated to evaporate quickly, taking with them dust, water spots, and other contaminants that can soil a vehicle’s finish. What’s more, they are lubricated to prevent scratches and scuffs. Nearly all brands of car care products have some type of spray and wipe or mist and wipe product in their lineup. While you need to give your car a good car detailing and traditional wash at least once each month, waterless washing in between traditional washes is the way to go if you want to keep your car looking good without intense work. Waterless washes are easy to use and can get rid of bugs, road grime, bird droppings and more in around twenty minutes time. This is all accomplished with a waterless wash spray or quick car detailing spray, a few quality microfiber towels, and a car duster. Follow these tips to get the most out of your waterless car detailing:
- Start with the interior, and choose a car detailing spray that also works on auto glass. This is also available in pre-moistened wipes. Wipe down your dashboard, seats (unless they are cloth), console, door jambs, and door panels after misting lighting with the spray. Think of this more as dusting than deep cleaning; you don’t need to use but a minimal amount of spray.
- The exterior should be worked on second. Dust your vehicle with a car detailing duster that is safe for paint, starting at the top of the vehicle and working your way down the body. Shake the duster out frequently. Clean the windows with glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth. Use waterless car wash detailing spray to mist the body panels of the car, and then wipe down with a microfiber cloth. Wipe in a single direction. Remove all loose dirt in the first pass, and then repeat the process with more car detailing spray. And then finally, buff the car with a dry microfiber cloth.
- The final step to car detailing is to do your wheels and wheels are always done last. If your wheels are pretty much clean, you can wipe them down with a waterless car detailing spray. Heavily soiled tires and wheels may require a stronger product that contains soil remover and degreaser.
